About

For over 25 years, I've worked with the understanding that a home is not something we impose upon space, but something we allow to emerge from it.

The best environments aren't forced into being but rather discovered through patience and attention. From the smallest detail to the grand design, my work is guided by the belief that a home should respond to the people who live within it and to the natural forces that surround it.

My work has developed over many decades, shaped by a steady progression of learning and lived experience. I began in the 1980s in soft furnishings, where I learned how materials, light, and comfort influence how people inhabit a room. By the mid-1990s, I moved into residential property development, gaining insight into how homes are built, adapted and sustained.

A building is not separate from its surroundings but part of a much larger conversation, one shaped by sunlight, wind, climate and the wisdom of nature, enhanced by time-honoured traditions.

A significant turning point came when I studied at the Manchester School of Architecture, where my focus centred on bioclimatic building principles (the essential relationship between buildings and their wider environment). This understanding recognises that a building exists as part of a larger ecological and environmental system.

In more recent years, my interior design work has increasingly centred on biophilic principles (designing spaces that strengthen our connection to nature). This approach views the home as part of a wider ecological system, where daylight, natural materials and restorative sensory experiences support both physical and emotional health.

Over time, these parts of my work have naturally come together. Through MHM Services, I can now offer them to you as a complete journey, one designed to meet you where you are, and to become something greater than the sum of its parts.
